COURSE OVERVIEW

ACHENA APPROVAL PENDING

It’s our honor to host Dr. Gheroghe Jurj, one of our most popular instructors, for his new course, Visual Homeopathy. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to refine your prescribing and case-taking skills in a small group setting with Dr. Jurj.

A few words from Dr. Jurj:

“Homeopathic culture is almost entirely and exclusively a verbal culture, because symptoms are usually described verbally. In fact, many homeopaths consider almost exclusively “mental” symptoms – subjective psychological symptoms expressed in words. Subjectivity, however, fluctuates and is variable. This course is about the visual and nonverbal partof homeopathy; it is about the crucial role of observation, and refining our homeopathic skills in that arena.”

Most of the information that homeopaths rely upon is the subjective, verbal information obtained in the course of a more or less lengthy patient consultation. Even the descriptions of lesions – what we understand as nonverbal signs and symptoms – are of necessity passed from patient to practitioner through the medium of verbal language. Homeopathy, we might say, is “ruled by words”, but the practice of medicine is full of other types of signs.

In Visual Homeopathy, we will explore the visual and nonverbal part of homeopathy; the crucial role of observation. Observation is a skill that can and must be studied.

During this 12 hour course, we will focus our attention on understanding the facts and evidence presented in our cases (rather than psychological or cultural cues), exploring such topics as:

  • An organized and simple way of seeing
  • Methods of perceiving (scan and zoom models)
  • Semiotics: giving meaning to the signs we see, analyzing them, making correlations and reintegrating them into totality

This course will rely primarily on video cases, which we will use to refine our observational skills and to practice correlating our observations with what we know about remedies.

We will explore the ways in which individuality and subjectivity are expressed in our patients’ nonverbal communication. We’ll look at posture, gestures, mimics, and walking. We will learn about paraverbal signs (voice tone, pitch, and pacing) and the way in which these signs can help communicate modalities, locations, and sensations –  all so valuable for homeopathy.

Visual Homeopathy is designed to elevate your clinical skills and help you achieve greater confidence in your decision-making regarding remedies.

The advantages of recuperating the art of observation – visuality – are clear: more consistency, more nuance, better accuracy, and often a more rapid arrival at the all-important remedy decision. In other words: treating better and faster, with an enriched clinical experience and deeper sense of professional satisfaction.
